Welcome to my face up gallery!
My name is Helene. I'm trying to balance my very non-artistic accounting job so I'm having a go at doing faceups in my spare time. My strength is in designing natural looking faces and choosing the most natural colours for your resin type, so that your doll appears as if they are not wearing any make-up (hence the name "Naturally Nude Face-up" ^__^). I am not an expert faceup artist, my lines are not machine-straight and my blushworks are never symmetrical, but if you appreciate a one-of-a-kind face-up tentatively hand crafted faceup, then I'm your girl!
If you like what I do and would like to have your head made up by me, please contact me by email at dkeats82 (at) hotmail (dot) com to discuss what you would like further. You can also describe or send a picture of something you like (i.e. freckles or particular colour of eyeshadow) and I'll do my best to approximate that look but please bear in mind that my style is primarily natural and soft. If I feel that I am not adequately skilled for the job involved I am more than happy to recommend other better suited artists for your needs.
PROJECT SLOTS AND WORK SCHEDULING
Every month I will open about 2 to 5 work slots. These slots will be open until they are all taken in a first come - first serve basis.

SERVICES & PRICES:
PACKAGE A: HELENE'S SPECIAL ^__^
PLEASE NOTE THAT AS AT 18TH JUNE 2009 I NO LONGER OFFER THIS OPTION
This is a better value option if you would like me to entirely design and create a unique face up especially for your doll in my distinctive and "Naturally Nude" style. This package though, does not provide you with the option to give any directions or input in the faceup. If you would like to be able to give any kind of directions (e.g. "I want this particular expression for my doll, etc etc") or input in the face up process please see "PACKAGE B" below.
How does it work:
(1) Simply send your head to me and I will commence work immediately upon receipt. If there are more than 2 jobs in the month, your work commencement will depend on the slot time alloted which I will advise.
(2) You can expect pictures of the completed work within a few days. Please note that this service does not include progress "preview" pictures as you are leaving the artistic license entirely for me to interpret. Any pictures you receive from me will represent the completed final look of the head before returning to you.
Price:
Faceup: $85 USD + paypal (per job, all sizes) Effective: 01/09/08
Cleaning and removing traces of old face ups: $10 USD + paypal fee

PACKAGE B: TAILOR MADE
If you would like to give directions or have input in the face up process (as opposed to leaving me to interpret and design freely) then this is the more suitable package for you.
How does it work:
(1) I will start with a preliminary sketch of the face-up which consists of a base blush to give a general idea of the colour scheme/look and brow-underblush to mark where and how the eyebrows will look like.
(2) I will then take a picture of this and send this to you for approval (Preview Pictures 1). I will also ask at this stage if you want further details added (i.e. freckles, blushing) and if there are anything you would like me to add, subtract or change before I finalise the face-up. This is the stage where you are able to make requests, directions and other input as to how the final look should be.
(3) I will then finish the face-up by adding details such as brow hairs, lip lines, shadows and blush definition, and gloss application and give the face-up a final seal. I will take a second set of pictures after this to send to you for final approval (Preview Pictures 2). If you are happy with the second set of pictures I will then complete the job and send you an invoice for the job. At this stage you are able to make a few more changes and minor alterations bearing in mind that there may be elements of the face-up which cannot be changed (without re-starting the project anew) as they would have already been sealed. I will always send pictures after I complete a task to show you of the progress and before I send your head home. Please note that if alterations involved are major (i.e. needing a complete re-do of a face up in order to fix it) then that counts as a second face-up job. I will do my best to get it right in the first place though and give you plenty of opportunity to give input ^__^
(4) I will ship your head back to you after payment has been received in full.
Note: I try to do the blushing, detailing and colouring all in one layer of sealant, therefore minimizing the amount of seal spraying per layer, as too much spraying can make a face look thick and shiny. I like a good matte surface that looks like real skin.
I apply gloss to the lips, inside the eyesockets and the upper eyelids to give it a moist look. I can offer 3 types of glossing from which you can choose: (1) super shiny gloss, (2) normal gloss, and (3) muted gloss. Please indicate early which type of gloss you would like, otherwise my default glossing is the (2) one.

SHIPPING AND HANDLING GUIDELINE:
Postage/handling fees will depend on your country of destination.
As at 01/01/2009 I only offer EMS service to return your heads. The parcel is sent within 3 business days and a tracking number is given for each parcel sent. Insurance options are also available along with your shipment but you need to let me know of this if you want it.
With shipping, you do not have to pay the shipping in advance, I'll take the package to the post office and have it weighed then I'll advise you how much it will be. The official Australian Postal Service website is: www.austpost.com.au (there is online calculator for postage you can use).
IMPORTANT NOTICES
- Please print this page at the commencement of any commission work. This page forms part of the commission contract between you and me.
- Please note that photos of the completed works of your head may/may not be published as part of my portfolio at my discretion, a description of the head's specifications and owner's name will accompany the publishing. If you do not wish for these photos to be published please let me know in advance.
- Please send your head(s) to me within 3 days of me advising you my postal address to avoid default cancellation of your slot.
- If convenient, please include the head cap of your head and a face mask if you have one. You may pack the head cap separately from the face if you are concerned about breakage.
- Please note that if I have to remove any traces of the former faceup prior to commencing my work on your head, even if you have attempted to remove this yourself, this would incur the $10 faceup removal fee. I will be using the gentlest form of isopropyl alcohol to remove traces of former faceup, to date I have not known this to cause discoloration, staining or damage to the resin surface underneath. I do need to bring to your attention though that some types of resin "soak up" the former faceup paint and cause it to stain. If this happens I will take pictures of this condition and show you prior to commencing any work. These stains unfortunately cannot be removed using any solution and I refuse to sand down any surface of the resin unless you give me permission to do so in order to remove the stains.
- I do not offer eyelashes attachment with any of my packages, tatooing nor body part modifications service (e.g. opening eyes or re-sculpting molds).
If your head comes to me with eyelashes attached, please note that I will be removing them as carefully as I could and returning these to you. Some eyelashes are glued to the head so in the process of removing them, sometimes they may or may not break depending on how strong they have been previously glued. I will be removing them with a glue retarder solution as carefully as I could, however they may still break.
- Payment must be made in full for all completed commissions before I return your head and everything which you have included with the head (including packing material and any other accessories such as wigs, eyes, etc).
- This has never happened in the past, however I reserve the right to decline, discontinue or cancel any commissions at any time if I am not comfortable with carrying out or continuing the work regardless of whether they are in completed state or otherwise. Explanations will be given as to why I discontinue, decline or cancel and any work I have performed on your doll head will be removed, cleaned and your doll head returned to you with return-shipping costs on your account.
- I will not copy or produce works which I perceive as being very similar to any of my own previous works or other artists' works.
- Please do not copy, re-use or commission other artists to do similar work to any part of my face up works nor any text contents of this website without my permission.
MISSING HEADS ENROUTE:
I am responsible for the good care of your head whilst it is in my physical possession, but I am not liable for any damages or loss of your head when it is en-route either to/from me, although I will do my best to help you from my end of the post office to find out what has happened to your package.
To insure yourself against loss/damages, you have the right to ask for insurance options along with the shipment of the head from me back to you which is in addition to the standard EMS service.
